Introduction of the rose 'Esch-sur-Sûre', 2023

Bright autumn weather for an unusual celebration that took place on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in the presence of numerous invited guests in the beautiful Ösling village of Esch-sur-Sûre, as part of the cultural events ‘ESCH23, Esch-Sauer säit 927'.

Mayor Laurent Hilger and Marco Schank, President of 'Gaart & Heem Eschduerf/Esch-Sauer', presented a new rose, which is now registered in the rose register under the name 'Esch-sur-Sûre'. The association 'Patrimoine Roses pour le Luxembourg' provided advice on the selection of the new rose. Two long-standing and deserving members of the section „Gaart & Heem Eschduerf/Esch-Sauer“, Mrs Micheline Neissen-Origer and Mr Lucien Eicher, were godparents.

Ann and Rudi Velle of the well-known rose breeder's house LENS ROSES from Oudenburg (B) took the long journey to bring a huge bouquet of the new rose to Esch-sur-Sûre. It is a healthy moschata hybrid whose fragrant flowers are like fireworks: a delicate yellow-orange that develops into a bright pink, depending on soil and light. A special feature are the bronze-colored healthy leaves and the impressive dark thorns. The richly flowering variety is bee-friendly and blooms into autumn.
