It was a rainy but warm celebration, on May 30, 2024, for the baptism of the 'Pétales de l'Amitié' rose in the Parc Jeannot Belling in Remich, as part of the festivities for the 20th anniversary of the twinning between the cities of Remich and Bessan (France).
In the presence of Mr. Lex Delles (Minister of Tourism), Mrs. Michèle Izquierdo (Municipal counselor in Bessan), aldermen and members of the communal council, rose growers Rudy and Ann Velle-Boudolff from LENS ROSES (Belgium), members of the board of directors of PATRIMONE ROSES LUXEMBOURG and other guests, the mayor Jacques Sitz emphasized that the new rose will further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two cities.
The hybrid of moschata rose was created by Ann Velle-Boudolf (LENS ROSES, Belgium). It has the best qualities to beautify the public spaces, gardens and vineyards of Remich. It is very robust and blooming from May to the end of October, bee-friendly and has a pleasant fragrance. The silky petals are of a soft apricot color turning towards white. In autumn, the magnificent 'Pétales de l'Amitié' is covered with many small rose hips.
The inhabitants of Remich will be able to admire the rose in bloom next to the weather vane, symbol of the twinning of the two cities, in the Jeannot Belling Park.
