Beautiful and fragrant, the “Anne-Beffort” rose is one of the best climbing roses for the elegance of its flowers, its abundant blooms and its good resistance to cold. The rose offers large bouquets of double flowers in a pretty apricot colour, enlivened by a pastel pink that contrasts well with the shiny olive green foliage, which is free from disease. Thanks to its moderate growth, this rose can be grown in a large container.
Anne Beffort (1880-1962), the first Luxembourgish woman to hold a foreign academic degree, founded the first girls' secondary school in Luxembourg together with Aline Mayrisch-de St.Hubert. She taught French in this school. In 1941, she was dismissed from her post by the German occupying forces. In 1948, Robert Schuman, French Minister of Foreign Affairs, awarded her, as the founder of the Victor Hugo Museum in Vianden, the Order of the Legion of Honour.
The “Anne-Beffort” rose was launched on 4 September 2019 at Mansfeld Park in Luxembourg-Clausen.
