A sublime old tea hybrid. Ovoid buds burst into flowers with refined colours: intense pink on the inside of the petals, a soft pearly pink on the reverse. Despite its reduced vigour, this precious variety deserves to be cultivated in the gardens of meticulous rose lovers.
Adolphe of Nassau-Weilburg (1817-1905), Grand Duke of Luxembourg from 1890 to 1905, was passionate about roses. A regular visitor to Soupert & Notting, he personally chose the varieties to be dedicated to the grand ducal family. To celebrate his first national holiday as Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Soupert & Notting dedicated four roses to the grand ducal family in 1891: “Grand-Duc Adolphe de Luxembourg”, ′Grand-Duc héritier Guillaume de Luxembourg′, ′Grande-Duchesse Adélaïde de Luxembourg′, and ′Grande-Duchesse héritière Hilda de Bade′.
