The hybrid moschata rose “Schengen Rose” is a beautiful bushy shrub with glossy, healthy foliage. In early summer, it blooms with 6 cm diameter simple roses with white petals edged in various shades of pink, grouped in large corymbs. The yellow stamens give off a spicy fragrance and attract pollinators. The decorative rose hips add colour to grey autumn days.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Schengen Agreement, this rose was named in 2010 in tribute to the European spirit. On 14 June 1985, the first convention was signed in Schengen (L), the tripoint between Luxembourg, Germany and France. The five petals of the rose symbolise the five founding countries: West Germany, France and the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), which established the free movement of their citizens in 1985.
