This rare rose is rarely found in rose breeders' catalogues. In summer, this repeatedly flowering hybrid is adorned with double cardinal red flowers with an intense fragrance. Matt green foliage adorns this compact bush. It requires rich soil and a sunny, airy location, otherwise it will produce few flowers.
A renowned diplomat, Count Metternich (1842-1927) was one of the close advisers to Grand Duke Adolphe of Luxembourg. After his political career, in 1904 the count began drilling on his property in Vinsebeck, Germany, to exploit the mineral water springs. This water is still commercially available today.
