The “Pierre d'Aspelt” rose is a superb shrub with charming pink pompons that are not affected by heat waves. Double corollas of 7 cm in diameter, slightly fragrant, displaying beautiful shades of pink, bloom profusely from June until the first frosts, creating a romantic atmosphere in the garden. Beautiful, thick, dark green foliage, which is highly resistant to disease, adorns the sturdy reddish-brown branches. This variety fits perfectly into natural gardens. It looks beautiful when combined with perennials or grasses.
Originally from Luxembourg, Pierre d'Aspelt (1240-1320) was a doctor, chancellor, archbishop and prince-elector who was an influential diplomat in the 14th century. To mark the 700th anniversary of his death in 2020, this rose was named after him.
The baptism of the “Pierre d'Aspelt” rose took place on 5 June 2021, as part of the inauguration of the renovated Château d'Aspelt.
