The single flowers of this floribunda rose immediately catch the eye with their original colour scheme, a soft coral pink illuminated by white at the heart of the corolla and punctuated with golden stamens. When in full bloom, the flowers shine like stars. The dark red young buds provide a beautiful contrast to the dark green, healthy foliage. Remarkable for its hardiness and floribundity, this variety is suitable for a wide range of planting situations.
“Mémoire de Wiltz”, a rose against oblivion, recalls the turbulent past of the “Martyr City” of Wiltz during the Second World War. On 31 August 1942, a general strike began in Wiltz against the Nazi oppressors, who had just introduced forced military enlistment. During the terrifying Battle of the Bulge from December 1944 to January 1945, 80% of homes were destroyed and 50 inhabitants of Wiltz lost their lives. After liberation, the resilient people of Wiltz rebuilt the devastated “Capital of the Ardennes”, which is now a dynamic and multicultural town.
The rose “Mémoire de Wiltz” was baptised on 22 July 2022 at Wiltz Castle.
